Sponsorship Spotlight

Over the next few weeks I’m going to be spotlighting children who need to be sponsored. We need 50 people who are willing to sponsor a child for the next year at $25.00 a month. This helps to offset the cost of school so Rinzi and Nani Beti can better provide for their daily needs. Last winter they had to forgo sufficient blankets and jackets to be able to save for school tuition. Please prayfully consider if you would be willing to come alongside us for the next year. If there is a child whose profile stirs your heart over the next few weeks let us know and we will get the sponsorship set up! Thank you for helping grow the seed of the Gospel in Nepal!

Kripa

Kripa’s smile will capture your heart. She is very loving and affectionate. She cares for the other children and loves to help them. She is 5 years old and in Kindergarten. She loves school. Like most of the children Kripa’s parents are either deceased or abandoned her. However, you can tell she has found her place in her new family at New Creation Home.

Rachel

Rachel is a 3 year old full of energy. She is the newest member of the NCH family. She doesn’t have many words yet but she makes herself known anytime she walks in the room! She is always cuddled up to someone or singing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”. She was abandoned and brought from one of the villages. She has stolen the hearts of everyone at NCH!

Benjamin

Benjamin is the cutest little boy. He captured my heart when I met him in 2004. I think he is the same height too! He is a talented musician with an evident love for God. He is a servant, always caring for someone. He was the first child Nani Beti and Rinzi took in, birthing NCH. His father died before he was born. His mother remarried and abandoned him. His grandmother cared for him until her health no longer allowed her to. He is now 10 years old and is growing daily in his gifts from God!

Jabez Training Center

Back in Time!

Hey guys! Karen and I just wanted to catch you up on a little something else that happened while we were in Nepal that we were not able to write about while there. When we landed in Nepal we were met at the airport by Nani Beti and a driver and a man named Bikash. He spoke very good English and was able to tell us where to go and what to do. He rode with us to the orphanage and even came in and had a “cold drink” (a soft drink of some type), as they like to call it with us. We were still unaware at this point who he was exactly but over he next several days he dropped by the orphanage often and we engaged in several conversations with him. During one conversation we learned that he and his wife ran a Christian Training Center called the Jabez school of Ministry. They take people from remote villages into their home for about 2 years and teach them how to read and write study the Bible. His wife teaches the women how to cook and to care for a family.  After inquiring about this center he asked us if we would like to come for a visit and we excitedly agreed. So before leaving for the village on Friday, Bikash came to the orphanage and got us (by got us I mean walked over to show us how to get there) to take us to the training center.  When we arrived there we met his wife and youngest daughter. They were very excited to see us and as is the custom in Nepal immediately wanted to fix us something to eat and drink! After talking with them for a few minutes and inquiring about the school, we gathered in the classroom where Bikash asked Karen and I to share something the Lord placed on our hearts with the students there. We both shared a few Bible verses and some words of encouragement for the students and Bikash translated for us. After our time of sharing Bikash opened up the floor and let a few of the students share their testimonies with us and the rest of the class. This was very encouraging to the two of us and although everything had to be translated for us it was great to see the work of the Lord in the older generation of Nepal. We had been surrounded with the work the Lord in doing with the kids and it was great for us to see that someone was also working to try and lead the older generations to Christ as well. Sharing with us was also great practice for the students. They remain in classes there from January to November of each year and then they go back to their home villages for 2 months to be with family and also to begin ministering to their villages. They are sent away from the school with assignments of sorts to help them evangelize their villages. Then they report back to the school in January for their 2nd 10 month stint of classroom studies followed by another 2 months in their villages at year end. After they complete this 2 year program Bikash and his family work with each student to send them out on mission for Christ. Some of them will return to their home villages as full time evangelizers and others will go off to new places and maybe even new countries as ambassadors for Christ. To close out our time with these amazing students Bikash had them pray for us and then asked us to pray for them. During this time we could feel the Holy Spirit’s presence in the room so strongly! I can’t begin to put it into words. After taking a few pictures and telling them goodbye Bikash began walking with us back to the orphanage. On the walk Karen and I continued to ask him questions as the Lord laid them on our hearts about what resources they needed and what ways that we could help them. One of the big things that he mentioned that they really needed was a computer. Bikash comes and uses Pastor Rinzi’s computer at the orphanage some times but it is very difficult because it is about a 20 minute walk away and that doesn’t allow the students to learn how to use a computer at all. I inquired about how much it would cost to purchase a computer there in Nepal and was told around $500.

Right then and there my heart began to pound. You see prior to leaving on my trip I had been given a check for exactly $500 to take with me to Nepal. The precious friends who gave it to me knew that my trip had already been paid for but said that they felt the Lord leading them to give me the money anyway. The Lord then began laying it on my heart that He had a special plan for the money and that I needed to keep my eyes open and be looking for the opportunity to use it in Nepal. This seemed to be it! It seemed so incredibly ordained from the Lord and I had to control myself not to jump at the opportunity and tell Bikash of the money. I wanted to spend some time in prayer about it and talking to Karen first and make sure that I was in the Lord’s will. I knew that I would see Bikash and his wife again on Sunday at church and could give them the money then if the Lord continued to lead me in that direction.

After returning to the orphanage Karen looked at me and said “You really liked that didn’t you?” I couldn’t help but smile in return and agree with her. I could just feel the Lord working in a powerful way and that excited me so much! After discussing things with her and spending time with the Lord I knew this is what I was supposed to do with the money. After church on Sunday we met and American missionary couple, the Hensleys, who now lives in Nepal full time and helps Bikash and Rinzi with their ministries. We were able to talk with them about giving Bikash the money for the computer and were able to make sure that they had a way to actually purchase a computer there. They assured us that they would actually help Bikash shop for and purchase a computer that fit his needs. WOW! How amazing is our God! He now had provided the money and the means to purchase the computer. What confirmation that we were truly using the money as the Lord intended. We then presented Bikash and his wife with the money for the computer and they were thankful beyond words.

I am happy to report that Karen and I received and email from Mrs. Hensley just this morning telling us that they have taken Bikash and purchased a new computer for the school and that they actually supplemented the money we donated and were able to also buy him a him a laser printer to use as well. Now the school has a way to teach the students about computers and also to be able to print any school materials that they need to. Praise God for His amazing provision and for His faithfulness with us!

Bikash and the Jabez school fully support the students during these two years, therefore, most of their funds go towards food and housing. If you would like to continue to help Bikash and his wife equip students to go and spread the gospel in Nepal they are in need of Bible Commentaries. Currently they only have 1 for all 11 students. Let us know if you would like to help us purchase commentaries for them or meet any of their other needs.

Presensah, Jewelry and Jet Lag

I realize that the title of this post might be confusing…however, I am awake at 6 AM and have been awake since 4 AM thanks to jet lag. I will make sense of the title so hang in there with me!

We returned Tuesday morning, our travel home was smooth…a few little bumps on the way. I learned I do not like it when travel plans don’t go smoothly, however, it was a glorious opportunity for the Lord to be faithful. There were many times on our trip where I really had to take hold of my thoughts and make them obedient to His word. I pray He used us to bless the Lama family as much as He worked in me. I am still processing all that He did in my heart.

Tuesday and Wednesday have been spent resting, processing all He did, and our next steps. My heart is overwhelmed with excitement and vision.

I really got attached to this sweet one, she refused to go to school our last day and went with us to the airport…it blessed my heart so much! Don’t even think about sponsoring her…she’s taken!!!

Presensah

There is so much to share with you about how you can continue to be a part of sowing the seed of God’s word in Nepal. I and Layne are going to be blogging about each opportunity over the next week. I ask that you would pray for God’s leading where you might be able to help.

One thing I love about the Lama family and the Nepali Christians is that they are so confident that God will place it on someones heart what they have a need for that they almost won’t tell you what they need. Their faith that He will provide is AMAZING! I would love for you to be able to take part in providing their needs for them.

Thank you so much for your prayers. We were healthy the whole time and the seed of God’s word is continuing to be planted!

A few new adventures!

Yesterday we went to the church here at the orphanage which is their English service. It was amazing to be able to worship with the Nepali people! We met to full time missionaries to Nepal that are from Michigan. We told them about some of the jewelry we are bringing back to the states to try and sell for the orphanage and she suggested we also speak with the owner of the Common Ground Cafe that we usually go to here to use the internet. They also have women make jewelry to sell. They rescue these women from the dance bars and give them a job at the coffee shop as well as making jewelry. After church we took a taxi to Thamel to do a little shopping and to eat at Karen’s favorite restaurant Fire and Ice! We shared a true Italian pizza and it was delicious! Then we did a little shopping and headed back to Kathmandu. On our way back we stopped in to the bakery to try and inquire about taking some jewelry back to the states with us. The owner was very excited and had TONS of jewelry for us to choose form. So we have plenty of things to choose from now!  We then made our way back to the orphanage to play with the kids ones last night 😦 This morning we saw them all off to school (except for one little girl Presenah who didn’t want to leave us :)) and now we are packing to leave. We will be headed back to the states here in about an hour. Thank you for the prayers and please continue to pray for safety as we travel home. Love you all!

Back from the Village

We got back from the village this evening. It was a great trip…but long. We are both exhausted.

We took a car this year which is

a very touristy way to travel ins

tead of the Nepali way. While

it was more comfortable I’m not sure it was any safer. Layne just thought crossing the street was a death trap…try driving on the side of a mountain on a single lane road passing oncoming cars on both sides of the road. Needless to say Nepali driving is an experience all its own.

We visited the NCH Dhading. They had moved to a flat but the conditions weren’t much better. Many of the children are sick with rashes. They were excited, but shy t

o see us and appreciative of the small gifts we took. It is hard to communicate with them because they speak no English. However,

it is a blessing for us to go and encourage them with the Lama’s as they care for God’s children and take care of their church.  We met another pastor and attended his church this morning. Rinzi gave the sermon…even though we didn’t understand a word it is a cool experience to worship with

them.

Our guesthouse was actually very

nice (compare

d to previous experiences). We

were excited to find a “western” t

oilet and hot water shower (even though we preferred a cold shower it was nice to have the option) and a ceiling fan that worked. It was a blessing we were not expecting. We have had our fair share of eggs…please don’t make us boiled or fried eggs for a coming home dinner. Sweet Tea, Chick-fil-A or BEEF would all be great options. Apparently if you don’t have a big belly they think you are still hungry. They tell us every meal we are hungry and put more on our plate. Here are some pics from our last two days.

Day 2

Good Morning!

Most of you will read this on Thursday morning. It is already Thursday for us. We had a good nights sleep. It took us awhile to fall asleep adjusting to all the noise but we were thankful for a full nights rest. We did have one interesting adventure. I got us locked IN our room. I locked our door and apparently it is nearly impossible to unlock. It took us more than 10 minutes to unlock the door. Needless to say it will not be locked again!

Today we are going to do some prayer walking around Patan. It is a historical area with several temples. As many of you have heard me talk about before the spiritual atmosphere is so dark here that prayer is a vital part of breaking through. We may leave for the village today as well or leave in the morning…we are now on Nepali time so our schedule is very “flexible”. Pray for us to be sensitive to God’s leading as we walk the streets for opportunities to be His hands and feet!

Yesterday we spent a lot of time with the children. Many of them have grown and changed! Today we will also be looking for some of the things they need at the orphanage. Here are some pictures from hanging out last night.

Namaste

Hey guys!

The loooong journey is finally over and we have arrived in Nepal. We arrived this morning around 9:00 and went to the orphanage to shower, unpack, rest and eat a BIG lunch.  Nani Beti loves to feed us! Right now we are hanging out at one of my beloved places, a christian coffee shop! I love seeing these believers and the diligent work they are doing for our Lord! The kids will be home from school shortly! We can’t wait to hang out with them! Here are some highlights from our trip so far!

The nice lounges during our layover! This was a much better experience that our layover last year!

Yay for sleep!

Layne’s luggage was gift wrapped 🙂
Unwrapping our prize! Sorry Corey not sure it will be in one piece when we get back!

On Their Way!

Karen is leaving tomorrow with her friend Layne headed to Nepal! They fly out of Atlanta at 11:30 Eastern time tomorrow (June 7th). They’ll be in Kathmandu from June 9th to the 14th. Sorry for the short notice to follow the blog…life has been crazy since school let out. So be sure to check the blog daily for the next week or so for new pictures and updates from Karen while she’s there. They are actually staying in the orphanage this time, so Internet access will be a little more limited than last time. She’s promised me that she would update as much as she could. So…here’s what we need from all of you:

1.) Prayer!!! – pray that they will have safe travel, that sickness would be no where near them, that connections will be made with new orphanages and relationships will be made with the people of Kathmandu. They will be working mostly with the New Creation Home in Kathmandu but will also be visiting the Dhading orphanage once again and hopefully connecting with one more while they are there.

2.) Get the word out! – Send the link to this blog to anyone and everyone! We want as many people as possible to follow the trip and learn about these great people in Nepal! You can direct them to http://www.incorruptibleministries.org. Make it your Facebook status for a day, tweet it, retweet it, email it!

Thanks for taking part in this journey with us! The first post from Kathmandu will (likely) be on the 9th, so be sure to check back often!

An Update

We are making preparations for our trip to Nepal this summer! We are very excited to be going back and spending time with the children. We are going June 4-13 (ish) and plan on prayer walking, spending time with the children of the orphanage and meeting people around the temples in the area. We, of course, plan to blog and post pictures throughout the trip so that you all can be there with us and fall in love with these people like we have.

We would like to ask you to prayerfully consider partnering with us. We are looking for 30 people to give a one time donation of $25. This will finish our support raising as well as allow us to give money to the Lama family to continue the work that they are doing for these precious children. If you would be interested is supporting us in this way, you can email us at info@incorruptibleministries.org, or you can mail your donation to: Incorruptible Ministries, 5370 Mountain Top Place, Cumming, GA 30041.

We’d like to thank all of you for your continued support and prayer. We wouldn’t be able to do any of this without you!

happy new year?

It’s been quite some time. Six months, actually. I blame work. Remember the whole “slowing-down” thing we were expecting? Well, it never happened and here we are. 6 months later. I know some people still check the blog, and there are some days that we have a large number of visitors, so I at least wanted them to find a new update this time.

Here’s what’s happening these days (when we have time to get things done…):

– Some of the children’s profiles are completed and we’ve had our first 2 children sponsored! Two very sweet girls, Esther and Angela are now receiving $25 a month in sponsorship thanks to the giving hearts of 2 very dear friends. This is a great start. If you are interested in sponsoring a child, you can email us at Info@incorruptibleminitries.org. We’ll get you some more information and let you chose the child you would like to sponsor.

– Jewelry sales have been AWESOME! It does help that the jewelry is beautiful and has a great story behind it. To date, we’ve sold almost $500 in jewelry! And all of this money goes directly to the New Creation Home in an effort to buy a van to help with transportation. If you are interested in viewing or buying some of the jewelry, you can check back to the blog and look under the “Jewelry” tab (which I hope to have updated soon…) or you can email info@incorruptibleministries.org.

– Planning our next trip! It’s still in the talking stages and nothing concrete has been decided, but we’re working towards another trip this summer! More information will be coming about this.

As always, thank you for your continued support and prayer. These children are precious and we want to help them in the best way possible, and we couldn’t do it without all of you!
